Try the Aloha Mix food truck for great acai drinks and good food. Naalehu has all the basics: gas station, bank, hardware, salons, restaurant, groceries, Ka'u Hospital and Bay Clinic Medical Center, fire and police departments and so much more. Vast, rural and remote, the Island of Hawaii’s southernmost region, Kau, is a quiet area free of commercialized hotels & resorts. It’s home to the small communities and one of the most famous beaches in the state—Punaluu Black Sand Beach. on the eastern slopes of Kau, there are macadamia nut orchards, coffee farms and cattle.
