With a laid back attitude, world class amenities, and a picture perfect tropical setting, it's no wonder that so many celebrities flock to Maui for rest and relaxation. The Valley Isle can be such an addictive place that many of these well-heeled visitors decide to make it home - even if it's home away from home.

One of Maui's most famous visitors is Oprah Winfrey, who is known to have significant properties Upcountry, including the Thompson Ranch. She has proven to be a great steward of the land, keeping with the Paniolo character of the area while practicing a sense of Kuleana (responsibility) of maintaining the land with care and sensibility.

On the south side, Steven Tyler can be found riding around town and is known for frequenting Little Beach, near his Makena house. He purchased an oceanfront home back in 2012 and has become a mainstay in the community since. Steven Tyler MauiThe Aerosmith vocalist is very recognizable and has an affable personality to match his fame. Other famous neighbors in Makena include Clint Eastwood and Shep Gordon.

Famed rocker Alice Cooper has made Maui home, so much so that he has become a regular at the New Year's Eve fundraiser that benefits the Maui Food Bank. The "School's Out" shock rocker fits well on Maui, with a penchant for Aloha in his charitable endeavors. Other rockers that can be seen from time to time include Metallica's James Hetfield and Nickelback's bassists, Mike Kroeger - interestingly enough, Mike's North Shore property has been on the market before (updated 06/2019, not on the market)

In Lahaina, Mick Fleetwood has become an anchor in the community, with his Fleetwood's on Front Street restaurant earning a reputation as one of the best culinary experiences on the island. Mick's legendary musical status translates well as his restaurant is a great entertainment venue on Maui's west side. Be sure to check out the entertainment calendar to see what's ahead.

The North Shore, with its rich history as surfer's Mecca, is well known for having some of its famed residents strolling through the Owen Wilson Mauiboutique-filled, cool-vibe town of Paia. Stop by Charley's, where an array of celebrities may be enjoying entertainment or a good bite - such notables include Willie Nelson, Owen Wilson or everybody's favorite boy-next-door, Woody Harrelson.

Celebrities flocking to Maui are not just from the entertainment sector, with famed Maui-raised athletes such as Kai Lenny and Shane Victorino calling the Valley Isle home. One of the winningest coaches ever, former NBA coach Don Nelson is well known for enjoying his time on Maui as well, which include heading a legendary star-studded poker game

Business tycoons such as Larry Ellison and Peter Thiel are among those executives who have made significant purchases on Maui - with the former Oracle CEO buying Lanai, where he has taken great steps to make his island one of the finest destinations in the world. Other technology and finance tycoons have also made significant purchases throughout the island.

Maui has a well-earned reputation as one of the best destinations in the world, seamlessly fusing its natural Eden-like splendor with 5 star, world-class amenities. Next time, the person sitting across the restaurant or enjoying the same beach may be one Maui's newest additions, Jim Carrey. Visit, enjoy, live.
